1. Acceptance of Terms

By accessing or using Sweetroute ("the Platform"), you agree to be bound by these Terms of Use. If you do not agree to these terms, you may not use the Platform. Your continued use of the Platform constitutes acceptance of any updates to these terms.

2. User Content & Liability

2.1 Content Ownership

You retain ownership of all content you create on Sweetroute, including routes, waypoints, narratives, episodes, and media uploads. By publishing content on the Platform, you grant Sweetroute a non-exclusive, worldwide, royalty-free license to display, distribute, and promote your content within the Platform.

2.2 Content Responsibility

You are solely responsible for all content you upload, create, or share on the Platform. Sweetroute does not endorse, verify, or guarantee the accuracy, safety, or legality of user-generated content, including geographic route data, waypoint locations, and narrative descriptions.

2.3 Safety Disclaimer

Routes and waypoints on Sweetroute are user-generated and may reference real-world locations. Sweetroute is not responsible for the physical safety of users following any route. Always exercise personal judgment and caution when visiting locations referenced in the Platform. Do not enter restricted areas, trespass on private property, or engage in unsafe activities.

3. Intellectual Property

The Sweetroute platform, including its design, code, branding, and proprietary technology (excluding user-generated content), is the intellectual property of Sweetroute and its licensors. You may not copy, modify, distribute, or reverse-engineer any part of the Platform without prior written consent.

Third-party content, including map data from Cesium, geospatial data, and AI-generated suggestions, is subject to its respective licenses and terms.

4. Acceptable Use

You agree not to:

• Upload harmful, illegal, defamatory, or obscene content
• Create routes that encourage dangerous or illegal activities
• Harass, threaten, or impersonate other users
• Attempt to gain unauthorized access to the Platform or other user accounts
• Use automated tools (bots, scrapers) to access the Platform without permission
• Distribute spam, malware, or phishing content through the Platform
• Violate any applicable local, national, or international law

Sweetroute employs AI-assisted content moderation (Story 8.3) to detect and flag potentially harmful content. Content that violates these terms may be removed, and accounts may be suspended or terminated.

5. Payments & Subscriptions

Sweetroute offers free and paid subscription tiers. Payment processing is handled by Stripe, a PCI-compliant payment processor. By subscribing to a paid plan, you agree to Stripe's Terms of Service.

Subscriptions auto-renew unless cancelled before the renewal date. Refunds are handled according to our refund policy. You may cancel your subscription at any time from your account settings.

6. Platform Disclaimers

Sweetroute is provided "as is" and "as available" without warranties of any kind, express or implied. We do not guarantee uninterrupted service, error-free operation, or the accuracy of any content (including geospatial data, AI-generated content, or user submissions).

To the maximum extent permitted by law, Sweetroute shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages arising from your use of the Platform, including but not limited to personal injury, property damage, or financial loss related to following user-generated routes.

7. Termination

Sweetroute reserves the right to suspend or terminate your account at any time, with or without notice, for conduct that violates these Terms or is harmful to other users or the Platform. You may delete your account at any time through the account settings (see our Privacy Policy for data deletion details).

8. Governing Law

These Terms are governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of Canada, specifically the Province of Quebec. Any disputes arising from these Terms shall be resolved in the courts of Quebec, Canada. For users in the European Union, nothing in these Terms affects your rights under applicable EU consumer protection laws.

9. Changes to Terms

Sweetroute reserves the right to update these Terms at any time. Material changes will be communicated via email notification or in-app notice. Continued use of the Platform after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated Terms.
